African brothers

£2,007.00

I was inspired by the “négritude“ movement in Francophone literature. I like working with acrylic and oil paint. As in any movement called politics, there is always a treater. I’ll let you find the one among the three men. They are often thirsty for blood and power, and nothing will cause it to be revoked because humanity has no importance except to serve their whims. Africans like to call each other “brother” but they will do anything to harm their African brother. It is a cry of anger to all those Africans who destroy their one because they have reached a social status in Europe or in Africa. Enough! That’s enough! These Afro-Europeans who say they are for Africa but are as corrupt as the system they reject. They criticize African leaders but are the first to line up to meet them and ask for favours.

Bow

£814.00

I was touched by the beauty of dancing. I think I will always paint dancers. I was inspired by my grandmother who is a great dancer but who, with her old age, speaks only of these memories of past dance lessons in Africa. The colours are warm because the scene is happening in Africa but to give a narrative sense to the story, I put a garment that was not acceptable in the African culture of the 50s. The tree represents the harmonious relationship that our African ancestors had with nature, this nature with which we must live, share the environment with but also this nature that feeds us in food and air. The tree is black, and it releases a warm and vibrant energy.

Dark Power

£742.00

After having a conversation with a stranger while waiting for the 71 bus not far from Kingston University, I had the impression of having heard the desperation of this woman, who appeared to be gentle and stable but who was suffering greatly from her past. I gave her a sheet of paper and then I asked her to write my past is behind me and my future is to God.I asked her to discard the sheet of paper and then never worry about it because she will be on the bus and this sheet of paper will be in the past.

On his face I used very dark strokes on a brown make up to represent the effect of the harshness of life. She is surrounded by little figurines floating around her. Green is used for the hope we all have of a better world.

Delicate Poise

£1,740.00

I was inspired by the magic and beauty of nature when respectfully used by humans being. I used the red to express the passion of this dancer for her artform, but the same red represents the blood flowing in her veins like lava flowing from a volcano. And the blue which is a contrast to soothe this character of burning fire. The spiritual symbiosis between the animal and the dancer is destroyed by the selfishness of this world, so everyone goes in opposite directions. Beauty does not matter if the inside of a being is filled with hatred.

Entrapment

£525.00

What happens when we are locked in dark thoughts? What happens when we are afraid of the unknown? or the next day? What will I do without God? All these noises that I say that are disruptions. Who can help me? What are you feeling? My inspiration is you! These people who are so far from me but very close to my art. This work represents the refusal to commitment. The person is hidden by very significant colours; green for hope, red for blood and drama, blue for the sky and water, black for depression.

Glorious mind

£1,003.00

In this artistic work, It is the portrayal of a black woman, who is guided by the power of intellectual success and who does not care about what the world around her thinks if her choices, she is black, some people think she is mixed because of her light skin but she does not care about the ethnic misery that has been inflicted on her people. She is full of life and she loves art in all forms. Her blackamoor brooch, she loves it and values black beauty. In her mind, Blackmoor art is only racist if depicts dark skinned Africans in subservient role. I like dancing and dreaming. I think of people who like to dance but cannot do it because of their disability. What is important is not what we would like to do but what we do with the little thing that we have. I was inspired by strong black women such as Misty, Tony Morrison and Jessy Norman who are all great in their artform.

Gracious

£465.00

The explosion of Africa will come through women who are par excellence the mothers of African nations. Africa needs to free itself from any kind of oppression and rediscover itself. Why after centuries of oppression and domination must we continue to suffer? Why? Why? How can one explain the fall of a whole continent? Africans must stop pointing fingers and go back to the values that are theirs and live in harmony as our fathers did.

Intercession

£1,750.00

I was inspired by my passion for prayer and meditation. The belief of a better tomorrow is a sign of hope that allows us to wake up and start the day in good mood. In prayer, the word of God comes to life in us. Prayer is the engine of life. The question is simple; who is the angel? Who is the sinner? Is it important to know? After all what is important is having a conversation with God.

The colours used represent a complementary harmony. With blue I wanted to create an aspect of emptiness and immateriality.

Little angel

Since its birth, it is the object of all your attention. You scan the least of its movements. A birth is a sign of love, it is a celebration of the love of two people. With a baby, parents are attentive, and they listen as soon as he begins to cry.

I was inspired by the happiness of parents at the time of their child’s birth.

Recline

£2,086.00

I was inspired by this person whom I loved so much and had no news of. She could be alive or dead nobody will tell me because I am now part of the past. She is far from me but so close to think. This very sensual figure is for this man an inclination in the world of rejection and tribulation. This foot is the symbol of movement of life, physical love but also indicates repentance with humiliation. I used the blue font to represent the blue sky or the sea which opens horizons, the blue and its nuances is a colour closely related to the dream. This woman is waiting for what she will not find. Her loss is eternal.

Red sparrow

£345.00

I was inspired by the artificial side of tattoos … everyone does it to follow celebrities without any intelligent thinking of their own identity. I am a master of my own person and I only answer to God the father. Why shall I destroy that particle that I am, which is a part of the temple of God?

Sensient

£490.00

I am inspired by the situation in Africa, by those people who have experienced slavery, colonization and now the tyranny inflicted on them. Africa is lost, it no longer works because it is destroyed by those who think they are leading it. The dove that is the symbol of peace is killed forever without any regret. This bird returned to Noah holding in its beak an olive branch indicating that the level of the water had indeed fallen. When will the dove return to Africa to indicate the level of tyranny had indeed fallen?

Startle

£427.00

The inspiration comes from a dream that I had the day I created this work. I dreamed that I was running in the Gorge of Diosso in Pointe-Noire and I saw a young lion cub that was apprehensive. When I wake up, I immediately draw this beautiful cub. It is sometimes in the simplicity of the mind and words that we create the most beautiful artwork.

The constructed high heel

£1,568.00

The inspiration comes from an advertisement that seemed futile and unseemly. On the billboard it as written “Would you give up this (referring to high heel, red lipstick) for this? (pacifier or dummy)”.

Since when we became so intolerant, I understand that there is a message to pass but at this level, it is irresponsible. It is an insult to women! There are a lot of mothers who are fashionable, fabulous, intelligent and full of life, so stop laying down lies. I react to the egoism of the world in which we live.
